Mass Intentions

In the New Testament, the Greek word for petition and intercession is similar.  It is used in reference of Jesus who is the primary intercessor (Hebrews 7:25).  He bore all of our griefs, sorrows and sins and continues to do so today!  We can share in this grace of honoring and interceding for those loved ones, alive and dead.

Below are a few of the ways we can join Jesus, the departed saints and the earliest Christians in honoring or praying for our loved ones:

Mass Intentions

Pope Leo XIII said Mass can be offered to God in honor of someone “to wash away the stains of our brethren who died in the Lord but without being wholly purified.”  Mass intentions can also be a beautiful way of connecting the sacred liturgy with our most heartfelt needs.

Each parish household may schedule five (5) Masses (3 weekend and 2 weekday) per six month period, Januaray - June and July - December.  Each Mass is a $5 stipend at St. Thomas More Church.

Church Sanctuary Candle or Adoration Chapel Candle

This devotion reminds of Christ’s presence and love and inspires us to love as well. The candle represents our prayers and petitions rising up to God.  These sanctuary candles burn in memory of a loved one and are located in the church sanctuary or the adoration chapel.  They burn from Sunday to Saturday and the stipend is $20 at St. Thomas More Church.

Church Flowers

This is a gift the whole community can enjoy and can also be offered for the living or the dead.  Flowers are purchased for the weekend Masses and are positioned on the altar either under the crucifix or in front of the ambo. The flowers under the cross are a somewhat larger arrangement for a $125 stipend and the ambo flowers are $75.

To schedule any of the devotions above, please visit the church office.

The Mass book for July - December 2020 opens June 15.
Intentions will be taken via the Mass intention form available HERE.
